First year journey box projectThis project was to choose a book or poem that I found interesting or which I felt influenced me, and create a journey through a box dimensions- which would be situated on a hillside, that conveyed the thoughts within the story or poem and allowed the reader to stop along their journey and enjoy reading the book or poem. I selected 'The Raven' by Edgar Allan Poe.
I produced a model of the box with my journy throughout and used images taken from the model, pictured above, to produce photomontage style visuals of my journey, pictured below.
As 'The Raven' has a dark feel and a some what quick-slow tempo to the way it is read, I used a lot of stairs and dark tunnels and enclosed undulating areas to try and portray the feel of the poem.
First year group project
This was a first year interdisciplinary group project, which involved Interior design and Architecture students. The brief for this project was to design a piece or pieces of furniture for children’s playtime incorporating learning in some way. My group designed a chair named the 'Gobble' due to its enclosing shape and the target market being children. It allowed the child to lie down comfortably, spreading themselves out to enjoy colouring and relaxing and also to sit up at a table and do their homework at their own little desk.
Summer projectThe Arch project was to redevelop a derelict railway arch, transforming it into a home with work space for a designer
